Cadertot is 2!

I'm so thankful for my little man and everything he's already taught me!  I'm also thankful for Pinterest for giving me lots of ideas for his birthday party!!!  I will admit that a birthday party for any kid 2 or younger is really about the parents (in this case the mom).

I decided on a very hungry caterpillar theme!  Inspiration started with this blog.  It has been one of Cade's favorite books since he could sit and look at a book.  He's always giggled when he put his fingers in the holes. We had the party at a neighborhood park where I grew up and many of my own parties there.  They weather was....COLD!!!  As Cade would say brrr cold!  But our friends came anyway and I don't think anyone got sick.

I made cupcakes and placed them in the shape of a caterpillar.  My inspiration came from this picture I found on Pinterest.  I used a small round cake pan for the face.  (I had it left over from his 1st birthday when I made him is own little cake).  I let Cade paint on brown packaging paper with different shades of green to make the base look like grass.  I also thought it gave it an "Eric Carle" feel as well.  I just used frosting for the eyes and mouth and some purple Twizzlers for antennas and then black liquorish for the legs.

Other fun party ideas:

We bought these little caterpillar balloons in different colors and then I drew faces on them.  Our friend that took pictures used this little guy in a lot of them which I found very humorous when I went back through and looked at the pictures!
I made some stickers using packaging labels and put on the table and then on their bags below.

Since we were going to feed the ducks I made each kid their own "duck food bag" and then put more stickers on the bags.  There was dog food and bread in the bags.

Feeding the ducks.  Which really turned into throwing food into the water because all the ducks left because they were full.
On Monday he ate through....I put the first 5 days out for the kids to eat and it was a hit!!!

Didn't I learn my lesson from his 1st birthday about using colored icing?  NOPE!

Another little friendly caterpillar!

PARTY FAVORS!!!  Got this idea from pinterest...but it had grapes and goldfish in it...not what kids want from a birthday party.  So, I added gummy worms and gummy butterflies.  Check out Amazon.  Apparently anything you can think of comes in gummy form.
Our family of 4!  Cade and Lyla each have a caterpillar shirt on.
